A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking an Environmental Scientist / Geologist to join its team in Southeast Michigan. This position offers a mix of field and office responsibilities supporting environmental due diligence, site investigation, and compliance projects for a diverse range of public and private-sector clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-to-mid-career environmental professional looking to gain exposure to Phase I and Phase II ESAs, site assessments, due diligence projects, and environmental compliance work while working alongside experienced project managers and technical professionals.
Responsibilities
Conduct environmental site investigations involving soil, groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air sampling
Perform site visits and support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
Assist with Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and subsurface investigations
Support Due Care evaluations, environmental compliance documentation, and related assessments
Prepare field notes, sampling records, and project documentation
Assist with technical report preparation, data management, and regulatory reporting
Operate, calibrate, and maintain environmental field equipment
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients during field activities
Support projects throughout Michigan with periodic travel to project sites
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
2-8 years of environmental consulting experience
Experience with environmental due diligence, site investigations, or environmental compliance projects
Knowledge of environmental regulations and field sampling methodologies
Understanding of Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA, and environmental reporting requirements
Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Michigan
Preferred Qualifications
Current 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
Experience with asbestos, lead, mold, radon, or other environmental service areas
Familiarity with stormwater, industrial compliance, SPCC, or permitting programs
Brownfield redevelopment experience
