Role Overview
As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead technical delivery for complex projects, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff. This is a leadership role with significant influence on project success and firm growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct geotechnical investigations, design, and analysis for major infrastructure and commercial projects
- Oversee foundation design, slope stability, and ground improvement solutions
- Manage budgets, schedules, and ensure quality standards
- Build and maintain client relationships; contribute to business development
- Mentor and develop junior engineers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
- PE license required (Illinois or ability to obtain)
- 10+ years of geotechnical experience, including leadership roles
- Expertise in soil mechanics, foundation design, and geotechnical modeling
- Strong communication and client management skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with transportation or infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio)
- Business development experience is a plus
