Summary

Seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our Oakland office. This individual will support and lead a wide range of geotechnical efforts, from site investigations and analysis to deep foundation design, seismic engineering, and complex problem-solving for infrastructure and building projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support geotechnical engineering components of projects across the building, energy, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Manage and perform subsurface investigations, including planning, logging, sampling oversight, and coordination with drilling contractors.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses such as settlement, slope stability, bearing capacity, liquefaction, lateral spreading, retaining structures, and deep foundation systems.
  • Perform seismic hazard evaluations, ground response analyses, and site-specific seismic design studies.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and design drawings.
  • Collaborate closely with structural, materials, and building technology teams on interdisciplinary projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • California PE license required or ability to obtain within 12 months; GE license or path toward GE highly preferred.
  • Strong technical expertise in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, FLAC, Settle3, LPILE, SHAKE, SLOPE/W, GRLWEAP).
  • Demonstrated experience in field investigations and construction-phase engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
