Government Relations Manager/Director

The Government Relations Manager/Director plays a pivotal role in fostering and managing relationships with government entities, regulatory authorities, and key industry stakeholders to support offshore wind energy initiatives. This role involves tracking and shaping policy developments, advocating for organizational interests, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will bring strategic insight, policy expertise, and stakeholder engagement skills to help advance project success in a dynamic regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Engagement & Advocacy
- Monitor and interpret policy and regulatory changes impacting the offshore wind sector.
- Engage with governmental and regulatory bodies to advocate for favorable policy outcomes.
- Prepare and submit policy briefings, consultation responses, and position papers.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and sustain strong relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry representatives.
- Track permitting requirements and ensure alignment with evolving regulatory standards.
- Represent the organization in public hearings, industry forums, and meetings with local authorities.
- Collaborate with policymakers to address regulatory barriers and promote renewable energy development.
- Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., permitting, legal, communications) to ensure consistent and effective external messaging.
Strategic Advisory
- Advise senior leadership on political and regulatory risks and opportunities.
- Support project bid teams by aligning strategies with government expectations and securing stakeholder support.
- Contribute to stakeholder mapping, risk assessments, and engagement strategies for key markets.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Analyze trends in energy policy, climate targets, and offshore wind regulations.
- Deliver timely updates and insights to internal teams on legislative and regulatory developments.
- Prepare reports and strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in government relations, public affairs, or policy advocacy, ideally within the energy, infrastructure, or renewable sectors.
- In-depth understanding of the offshore wind industry and its regulatory landscape.
- Proven ability to influence policy and manage complex stakeholder environments.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English; experience in international organizations is advantageous.
- Strong conflict resolution and stakeholder engagement skills.
