Position: Project Manager - Healthcare Architecture (Hybrid, Phoenix)

A leadership opportunity within a healthcare-focused architectural team, this role is responsible for managing complex projects from concept through completion. Based in Phoenix with a hybrid work arrangement, the Project Manager plays a pivotal role in client engagement, team leadership, and project delivery, ensuring alignment with healthcare design standards and organizational values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary client liaison for healthcare projects, building strong relationships through a deep understanding of clinical goals, operational needs, and project progress.
  • Lead the development and execution of architectural documentation across all phases, including post-occupancy evaluations and sharing lessons learned.
  • Collaborate on healthcare-specific design processes, including programming, schematic design, design development, and construction administration.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to ensure integrated and efficient project execution.
  • Guide interdisciplinary teams to develop design solutions that meet healthcare regulations, budget constraints, timelines, and local codes.
  • Represent the project in client presentations and public forums as needed.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks in collaboration with leadership and legal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare codes, zoning regulations, and quality standards.
  • Manage project meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, documentation, and action tracking.
  • Conduct site visits and field reviews as required.
  • Mentor team members, support career development, and promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Assist in managing project budgets, staffing plans, and financial performance.
  • Monitor invoicing and ensure alignment with project milestones.
  • Understand and apply accounting principles relevant to project management.
  • Maintain and adjust project schedules to meet deliverables and budget targets.
  • Track utilization rates and ensure accountability to project plans.
  • Identify and manage scope changes and additional services.
  • Support business development efforts, including client retention, proposal development, and opportunity identification.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture or equivalent experience.
  • Architectural licensure preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience, with a strong background in healthcare design.
  • Accreditation in sustainable design is a plus.
  • Comprehensive experience across all phases of healthcare facility design and construction.
  • Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and performance analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Project and Teams.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare design guidelines, building systems, and QA/QC processes.
  • Advanced understanding of building codes, accessibility standards, and constructability.
  • Experience in logistics and team coordination.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple healthcare projects.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a focus on relationship-building and teamwork.
