A growing heavy civil construction organization is seeking a CAD Technician to support estimating, preconstruction, and project operations teams on a variety of infrastructure projects throughout Northwest Florida. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile transportation, utility, site development, drainage, and earthwork projects while collaborating with experienced construction professionals.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical drafting skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and wants to be involved in projects from bid stage through completion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and modify construction drawings, site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, and earthwork models.
- Assist estimating and project management teams with quantity takeoffs and plan reviews.
- Develop and maintain CAD files, as-built drawings, and project documentation.
- Create surfaces, alignments, profiles, and cross-sections from survey and design data.
- Review plans and specifications for constructability and coordination.
- Support machine control modeling and GPS-guided earthwork systems.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, superintendents, and project managers throughout project execution.
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure accuracy across all project files.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in heavy civil construction, land development, transportation, utilities, or related industries.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience interpreting construction plans, specifications, and survey data.
- Understanding of grading, drainage, utility, roadway, or sitework construction.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Associate's degree or technical training in CAD Drafting, Engineering Technology, Surveying, or a related field is preferred.

- Heavy highway or roadway construction.
- Earthwork and grading projects.
- Underground utility installations.
- GPS machine control and terrain modeling.
- AGTEK, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, or related software.
- Civil engineering or construction industry experience.
