Position Summary
The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for managing all aspects of field operations on assigned projects. This includes supervising crews, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of civil construction practices and a passion for delivering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily field operations across multiple job sites
- Supervise and mentor foremen, laborers, and equipment operators
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Monitor and report on project progress, including schedules, budgets, and quality metrics
- Conduct regular site inspections and resolve issues proactively
- Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, time sheets, and material logs
- Participate in project planning meetings and contribute to scheduling and logistics
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, preferably in infrastructure or utility projects
- Proven leadership experience managing field crews and subcontractors
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in construction management software and mobile reporting tools
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to job sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with state DOT or municipal infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with GPS layout systems and digital project tracking tools
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
