Heavy Civil Project Engineer

Location: Seattle, WA
Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 + Bonus(s)

About the Opportunity

A leading Heavy Civil General Contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of infrastructure and construction projects throughout the Seattle area. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects involving bridges, heavy highway, earthwork, utilities, roadways, excavation, site development, and other civil construction work while collaborating with experienced project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with the planning and execution of construction projects.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Track project budgets, schedules, and production quantities.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Support procurement activities and material tracking.
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain project records.
  • Help ensure projects meet safety, quality, and performance standards.

Experience Needed

  • 1-5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Experience supporting earthwork, underground utility, roadway, bridge, site development, or public works projects.
  • Exposure to project administration and construction documentation.
  • Experience tracking costs, schedules, and project progress.
  • Familiarity working in both field and office environments.

Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS, Primavera P6, or similar construction software is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to visit project sites as needed.
