Salary Range: $135,000 - $185,000 (DOE) + bonus potential

Position Overview

A respected heavy civil contractor operating in the Seattle market is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to support a strong and growing backlog of infrastructure work throughout the Puget Sound region. This role is responsible for managing complex civil projects from preconstruction through closeout while working closely with field leadership and executive management.

Projects may include earthwork, underground utilities, roadway and highway improvements, marine or waterfront infrastructure, and public works construction. The ideal candidate brings a strong operational mindset, understands self-performed work, and is comfortable managing projects in dense, highly regulated urban environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage heavy civil construction projects from award through final completion
  • Oversee project budgets, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with superintendents
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, owners, engineers, and agencies
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications
  • Track production and proactively mitigate scope, schedule, and cost risks
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and safety requirements
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication across all stakeholders
  • Support estimating, preconstruction planning, and work sequencing as needed
  • Maintain accurate project documentation through closeout

Experience Needed

  • 7-10+ years of experience managing heavy civil construction projects
  • Strong background in earthwork, utilities, roadway, and infrastructure construction
  • Experience delivering public works projects in Washington State
  • Proven ability to manage self-performed crews and subcontracted scopes
  • Experience coordinating with municipalities, DOTs, utilities, and regulatory agencies
  • Solid understanding of cost control, production tracking, and scheduling

Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction means and methods
  • Proficiency with Procore, HCSS, MS Project, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety leadership
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local job sites
