Highway Project Manager
We are partnered with a nationally recognized engineering and infrastructure consulting firm with more than 7,000 employees and a strong presence throughout Tennessee, the Southeast, Midwest, and Northeast. Due to continued growth and a healthy transportation backlog, they are seeking a Highway Project Manager to join their Knoxville team. The Highway Project Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing highway, roadway, and transportation design projects from planning through final delivery.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Leading multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, designers, and subconsultants.
- Developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans while ensuring projects remain on track.
- Overseeing quality control efforts and ensuring compliance with applicable state, local, and federal standards.
- Supporting business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client engagement, and relationship management.
- Mentoring junior staff and helping build a strong transportation team throughout the region.
The Highway Project Manager should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
- 8+ years of transportation or highway design experience with increasing project leadership responsibilities.
- Experience managing DOT-funded transportation projects, preferably with TDOT and other state or local transportation agencies.
- Strong knowledge of roadway design principles, project delivery processes, and transportation engineering standards.
- Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and offices.
