HV Substation Design Engineer
Key responsibilities:
- Make independent decisions on complex engineering challenges, applying sound judgment, creativity, and technical expertise.
- Solve design issues using innovation and strong engineering intuition.
- Represent Equisales with professionalism in all client interactions and foster strong, positive relationships within the team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and constructive challenge to junior engineers.
- Execute engineering assignments using advanced principles, techniques, and practices aligned with IEC, ANSI, and related industry standards.
- Lead and coordinate QA/QC design reviews, including oversight and final approval of documents issued for procurement and construction.
- Conduct detailed electrical engineering and power system studies for medium- to extra‑high‑voltage substation facilities, including:
- Load flow analysis
- Short-circuit studies
- Protective relay coordination and protection studies
- AC/DC loading calculations
- Battery and charger sizing
- Develop key substation design deliverables such as one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring drawings, and cable schedules.
- Prepare specifications for control buildings, relaying systems, and metering equipment.
- Travel to project sites as needed.
Requirements:
- BSEE or BSCE with minimum 5 years' experience, or an M .S. degree in engineering with sufficient experience required for advancement as determined by management, or a combination of applicable education and experience as determined by management; professional registration or expectation of achieving professional registration within a specified time period.
- While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time; occasionally lift a maximum of 20 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus.
- Occasional travel.
