Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HVAC Estimator to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial and/or residential HVAC projects, supporting preconstruction efforts, and helping secure profitable work in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents for HVAC projects
- Prepare detailed takeoffs for ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls
- Develop accurate cost estimates including materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and internal teams during the bidding process
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations as needed
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local codes, market pricing, and industry trends in the Charlotte region
- Support handoff to operations team upon project award
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in HVAC estimating (commercial preferred)
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, ductwork, piping, and HVAC equipment
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design-build or plan/spec projects
- Knowledge of Charlotte-area subcontractors and suppliers
- Familiarity with local building codes and permitting requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required)
