Hydraulic Design Engineer - Transportation & Flood Mitigation Projects
A leading civil engineering firm is currently hiring a Hydraulic Design Engineer to support hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) design efforts across a variety of infrastructure projects. This role involves collaboration with transportation design teams on roadway, municipal street, and pedestrian-focused developments such as greenways and multi-use trails. Familiarity with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) standards and project workflows is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead H&H design for transportation and stormwater infrastructure
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on civil engineering projects
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 3 years of experience in hydraulic design, including bridges, culverts, and stormwater infrastructure
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Proficiency in GIS and design software such as Open Roads Designer or Civil3D
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning and development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 2D flood modeling using HEC-RAS
- Background in Best Management Practices (BMP) inspection and design
- Certification in Construction Management Fundamentals (CMF)
- Experience engaging with clients and public agencies
