The Opportunity

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Hydraulic Structural Engineer to support its growing portfolio of water infrastructure projects. This niche position is ideal for someone with a strong background in structural design and hydraulics, who also enjoys conducting forensic investigations and assessments of existing assets.

The successful candidate will contribute to both new design work and diagnostic evaluations, helping clients improve the safety, performance, and longevity of critical infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design hydraulic structures such as culverts, spillways, weirs, intake towers, and energy dissipation systems.
  • Conduct structural assessments and forensic investigations of aging or damaged infrastructure.
  • Perform site inspections, condition surveys, and root cause analyses.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, environmental, and water resources engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and client presentations.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, and proposal development.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE, IStructE, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in hydraulic structure design.
  • Familiarity with structural diagnostics and investigation techniques.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000) and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, FLOW-3D).
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Licensed Professional in the state of Texas
