Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Hydrogeologist Technical Lead to support and direct water resources and groundwater systems projects throughout Florida. This role involves technical leadership, project delivery, client engagement, and mentoring of junior staff. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in groundwater systems and regulatory compliance, and will play a key role in shaping innovative solutions for municipal and industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical efforts on groundwater systems including:
- Brackish groundwater supply
- Aquifer Storage Recovery (ASR)
- Indirect potable reuse systems
- Class I injection wells
- Develop technical scopes of work for drilling, sampling, aquifer testing, and geophysical investigations.
- Participate in active drilling field work and oversee aquifer and geophysical testing programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical, I&C, permitting, construction) during design development and construction phases.
- Prepare and manage technical documentation including reports, letters, memoranda, drawings, specifications, and proposals.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and quality standards across all deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff; may supervise project work and support career development.
- Maintain and grow relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry professionals.
- Represent the firm at industry events and present technical publications.
- Partner with sales and business development teams to respond to RFPs and develop strategic proposals.
- Support project delivery teams through interpretation of technical and regulatory issues, project scoping, budgeting, and client satisfaction.
- Contribute to internal technical knowledge management through white papers and documentation of special case designs and studies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Registered Professional Geologist (PG) certified by ASBOG.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in groundwater systems and environmental consulting.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in municipal groundwater supply systems and groundwater engineering.
- Familiarity with regulatory permitting processes for groundwater systems in Florida.
- Experience with corrosion-resistant materials, downhole control valves, recharge control systems, and booster pump stations.
- Ability to work collaboratively on master planning and detailed design projects.
Skills and Abilities
- Expert-level proficiency in computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD), including 3D and 4D applications.
- Strong command of hydrogeologic principles and environmental regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects.
