A growing, technically focused engineering consultancy is seeking a Hydrology & Hydraulics Design Engineer to join its Southern California team. This is an opportunity to work on complex stormwater and watershed challenges, contributing to projects that shape how water systems are planned, analyzed, and delivered across the region.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to deepen their expertise in hydrology and hydraulics within a highly specialized and collaborative environment.
You will work alongside a team of experienced engineers on challenging projects that go beyond routine design, with the chance to contribute to integrated, solution-driven approaches to stormwater and watershed management.
Unlike larger consultancies, this firm offers a more agile structure, allowing engineers to gain broader exposure, take on meaningful responsibility early, and have a direct impact on project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Performhydrologic and hydraulic analyses for a range of projects, including:
- Stormwater management and drainage systems
- Watershed and floodplain analysis
- Flood control and resiliency studies
- Develop and apply models using tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar
- Prepare technical calculations, modeling results, and supporting documentation
- Assist in the development of engineering reports, design plans, and studies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
- Support senior engineers in project coordination and technical delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field
- California PE required (can obtain in 6 months)
- Approximately 3-7 years of experience in water resources engineering
- Strong background in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater systems
- Experience with industry-standard modeling tools
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills

Compensation
$90,000 - $120,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonus and comprehensive benefits.
