Interior Designer
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid/Flexible)
My client, an award-winning employee-owned architecture and interior design firm, is seeking an Interior Designer to join its collaborative and highly creative team. This firm is known for delivering thoughtful, design-driven environments that enhance the way people live, work, and experience space.
The Interior Designer will work closely with firm leadership, architects, and design teams on a diverse portfolio of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented designer who enjoys balancing design excellence, client interaction, project management, and mentorship within a collaborative studio environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project leaders and design teams on projects of varying sizes and complexity.
- Lead interior design efforts from concept development through project completion.
- Develop space planning, interior architecture, construction documentation, FF&E packages, and styling concepts.
- Coordinate with vendors, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the design and construction process.
- Manage project budgets, procurement activities, scheduling, and installation coordination.
- Present design concepts and project updates to clients and project teams.
- Support business development, marketing initiatives, and proposal efforts.
- Mentor and guide junior designers while contributing to a collaborative studio culture.
- Maintain high-quality design standards across all project phases.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and client expectations.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Strong interior design and space planning abilities.
- Ability to design across a variety of aesthetics, client styles, and project types.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in:
- Revit
- Studio Designer
- Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign and Photoshop)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to clearly articulate design concepts to clients and project teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and client relationship management experience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of professional interior design experience.
- Residential design and project management experience required.
- Experience collaborating closely with architects, builders, and consultants.
- Knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and ADA requirements.
- Experience with multifamily, commercial, institutional, cultural, or mission-driven projects is highly desirable.
- Proposal writing experience is a plus.
