Lead MEPF Design and Project Manager
Role Overview
The Lead MEPF Design and Project Manager will oversee all aspects of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire-protection (MEPF) engineering throughout the design, procurement, and construction phases of data centre projects. This role ensures that systems meet performance, compliance, and reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Management & Supervision
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary MEPF design efforts among consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Review design documents for compliance with performance, capacity, redundancy, and constructability.
- Ensure alignment with international and local standards (e.g., TIA-942, ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC).
- Oversee design interfaces across civil, architectural, ICT, and building services.
- Validate load calculations and future scalability.
- Ensure sustainability and energy-efficiency goals are met.
- Participate in site due diligence and innovation initiatives.
2. Technical Assurance & Standards
- Develop and enforce technical specifications and design guidelines.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests, type-testing, and certification reviews.
- Maintain and update owner's requirement documentation.
- Support tenant RFP/RFI processes and compliance checks.
- Contribute to operational audits and improvement initiatives.
3. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Assist in preparing RFPs, evaluating bids, and drafting recommendation reports.
- Coordinate with suppliers and OEMs for key equipment (e.g., switchboards, generators, UPS, chillers).
- Ensure supplier compliance with technical and commercial terms.
- Support value-engineering and contract scope alignment.
4. Construction & Commissioning Support
- Review technical submittals, shop drawings, and material samples.
- Provide guidance to contractors on expectations and requirements.
- Monitor construction for adherence to approved designs and specifications.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve design conflicts.
- Participate in quality checks, pre-commissioning, and integrated systems testing.
- Manage punch-list closeouts and handover documentation.
5. Interface Management & Reporting
- Liaise with consultants, project managers, quantity surveyors, and contractors.
- Track deliverables and proactively report risks.
- Support documentation control and review cycles.
- Present engineering status and risk assessments to stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in data centre MEPF design and project management.
- Strong technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, ELV, BMS, security, and ICT systems.
- Proven coordination and review capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with commissioning standards and industry frameworks (ASHRAE, Uptime, BICSI, TIA942).
- Relevant certifications and training are advantageous.
- Willingness to travel and stay on-site for extended periods, primarily in Southeast Asia. What's Offered
