Role Summary

This position focuses on developing drawings, models, and documentation for building technologies that operate on low-voltage infrastructure. These systems typically include communications, security, audiovisual components, and related building technologies. The designer collaborates with project teams-engineers, architects, and contractors-to ensure that system layouts meet project goals, follow applicable standards, and integrate smoothly with other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create project drawings and models using Revit for a wide range of building types.
  • Prepare coordinated BIM layouts through all design phases, including early concepts, design refinement, permitting documentation, and construction-level detail.
  • Support construction activities by addressing RFIs, submittal reviews, clarifications, and other technical inquiries.
  • Track and communicate project progress while adjusting workflows to maintain efficiency.
  • Log project time accurately within the internal project management platform.
  • Participate in discussions with stakeholders such as architects, engineers, clients, and code officials, when needed.
  • Conduct on-site reviews and produce written reports summarizing findings.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by project leadership.

Qualifications

  • Must have authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Prefer candidates located in Florida or Texas, specifically around major metro areas.
  • 2-5 years of experience designing low-voltage systems for commercial or institutional buildings (e.g., healthcare, higher education, aviation, public facilities, hospitality, etc.).
  • RCDD certification is strongly favored.
  • Hands-on experience with fire alarm and building technology systems is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP.
  • Strong PC and software abilities, including common office applications.
  • Clear and confident communication skills across written, verbal, and presentation formats.

  • Willingness to work longer hours occasionally to meet project milestones.
  • Regular computer use, including standard office hardware.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity for keyboard and mouse work.
  • Ability to differentiate colors, brightness levels, and spatial depth.
  • Occasional exposure to construction‑related environments such as mechanical equipment, electrical installations, elevated work areas, outdoor weather conditions, and moderate to high noise levels.
