Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Customer Design Manager to lead the design and delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects meet performance, reliability, sustainability, safety, quality, and budget objectives while supporting customer requirements and business goals.
The successful candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and stakeholders to drive high-quality design outcomes and support project delivery across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain design requirements, standards, and performance metrics to promote consistency and quality.
  • Coordinate and oversee external consultants and technical specialists throughout the design process.
  • Ensure design solutions align with customer requirements, regulatory standards, sustainability goals, and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, consultants, and project teams to improve safety, efficiency, and overall project performance.
  • Review construction progress and technical implementation to confirm alignment with approved designs and quality standards.
  • Support design reviews, technical submissions, and customer engagement activities.
  • Identify opportunities for design improvements and incorporate lessons learned into future projects.
  • Drive standardisation and continuous improvement across project delivery processes.

Key Requirements

  • Significant experience managing the design and delivery of large-scale infrastructure, engineering, or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong understanding of design management, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental professionals.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to balance technical requirements, commercial objectives, and customer needs.
  • Experience with various project delivery models and construction methodologies.
  • Professional engineering or architectural qualifications are advantageous.
  • Experience within data centres or other highly technical environments is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in English; additional language capabilities are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
