A leading MEP design firm in the architectural engineering consulting industry is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its New York City office. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile, innovative projects across a variety of sectors. The ideal candidate is a technically strong and experienced engineer with a proven track record of delivering complex, sustainable building systems. A passion for architecture and high-performance design is essential.

Role Overview

This position involves a broad range of responsibilities across all phases of mechanical engineering design and construction administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design sustainable mechanical systems and present options to clients and project stakeholders

  • Produce high-quality mechanical HVAC system construction documents

  • Perform engineering calculations, including heating and cooling load analyses

  • Draft detailed mechanical technical specifications

  • Conduct site assessments and generate reports evaluating existing conditions and system options

  • Support construction administration efforts, including field observations, punch lists, RFIs, and cost evaluations

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers

  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients through exceptional project delivery

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team motivation abilities

  • Experience managing projects through all design and construction phases

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills for direct interaction with clients and design teams

  • Interest in project management and leading multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong technical writing abilities for reports and engineering analysis

  • Familiarity with NYC Building Code and NFPA codes

  • Creative, solution-oriented mindset

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit

  • Experience with engineering calculations and performance simulation software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

  • LEED Accredited Professional
