My client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to lead our mechanical department in Denver. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the mechanical design process across a range of project types while mentoring junior engineers and playing a key role in project delivery.
About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing mechanical HVAC and plumbing design, reviewing and stamping drawings, and ensuring technical quality and code compliance. You'll serve as a technical lead on projects and collaborate closely with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and helping to shape the future of the mechanical department.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as engineer of record for mechanical systems; review, sign, and seal mechanical construction documents.
- Lead design efforts from concept through construction administration for commercial, multifamily, municipal, and educational projects.
- Coordinate directly with clients, architects, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive, code-compliant design solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Support QA/QC processes and contribute to department standards and best practices.
- Assist in workload planning, project scheduling, and resource allocation for the mechanical team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Active PE license (Colorado or ability to obtain quickly).
- 8+ years of experience in HVAC and plumbing systems design for buildings.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and load calculation tools.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and mechanical systems design.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
