Mechanical Estimator (Baltimore Based)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is not a remote or telework position.

  • Collect and distribute bid documentation, including specifications, drawings, downstream pricing, and bid solicitations.

  • Develop accurate bid estimates based on documentation requirements, taking into account general conditions, raw materials, labor, tools, equipment, and transportation.

  • Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to procure bid documentation and pricing information.

  • Assist the Preconstruction team with technical writing and compiling submission materials.

  • Help identify required project resources based on budgetary and cost estimates.

  • Maintain consistent collaboration with project management, project controls, and executive leadership.

  • Attend and lead meetings as necessary.

  • Comply with all established company policies, procedures, and safety programs.

  • Exhibit flexibility in work hours to meet time-sensitive bid deadlines.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong ability to interpret preconstruction documents related to mechanical and industry-specific scopes of work.

  • Proficient and experienced in performing quantity takeoffs for mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and process systems.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the mechanical, plumbing, or industrial HVAC industry.

  • Solid understanding of field practices and industry procedures.

  • Working knowledge of construction contracts and multidisciplinary work scopes.

  • Familiarity with the local market is highly desirable.


COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in mechanical estimating software (e.g., Autobid) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Advanced Excel skills required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in English. Ability to collaborate across multiple levels with employees, government entities, contractors, and suppliers is essential.
