About the Role
My client is seeking a highly skilled Mission Critical Electrical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Fairfax, VA. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and analysis of high-reliability electrical systems that support mission critical environments and data centers. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, leadership experience, and a passion for delivering resilient, energy-efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead small to medium-scale electrical design projects
- Mentor and direct junior engineers
- Collaborate closely with clients, design teams, and contractors
- Develop one-line diagrams and specifications for mission critical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, and STS
- Design SCADA systems and automated operations for critical infrastructure
- Apply various electrical design topologies (Tier III, Tier IV, N+1, 2N)
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, Uptime Institute, ANSI/TIA-942, and other relevant standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia
- 10-15 years of progressive experience, including leadership on mission critical/data center projects
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in ETAP or SKM
- Experience using Revit for complex power system design in raised floor environments
