Mission Critical Project Manager

Position: Project Manager - Mission Critical Architecture (Hybrid, Phoenix)

A Phoenix-based architecture and design team is seeking a Project Manager to support its Mission Critical practice. This hybrid role involves strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial management across high-performance infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will help drive growth, optimize team performance, and ensure alignment with firm-wide priorities and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic planning, including Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), financial forecasting, and practice development.
  • Serve as a liaison between practice leadership and project teams, communicating strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Promote integration of firm-wide services, innovation, and sustainable design strategies across mission critical projects.
  • Monitor staffing, utilization, and growth across the practice, recommending adjustments and coordinating personnel changes with leadership.
  • Support project staffing by maintaining awareness of team capabilities and availability across offices.
  • Assist studios in setting goals and aligning execution plans with broader practice strategies.
  • Reinforce design and technical excellence by helping teams incorporate best practices into project delivery.
  • Foster a unified firm culture by minimizing operational inconsistencies across offices.
  • Collaborate with studio and office leaders to evaluate performance and growth in alignment with organizational values.
  • Apply negotiation and persuasion skills to resolve critical issues and support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Licensure or certification in chosen field preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the AEC industry, including leadership roles with proven success in project delivery, financial oversight, and team development.
  • Familiarity with project management and financial tools (e.g., Vision) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Project, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and mentoring teams.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration, develop talent, and manage relationships.
  • Strategic problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovation.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
