Senior Director, Mining Market Strategy - Environmental Services

About the Role

An industry‑leading, employee‑owned consulting and engineering organization is seeking a highly accomplished mining-sector leader to drive its national Environmental Services market strategy. This executive-level role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, client engagement, market development, and multidisciplinary technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead National Market Strategy:
    Own and advance the organization's national mining market strategy for Environmental Services, including identifying priority segments, target clients, strategic geographies, and emerging service needs that support long-term growth.

  • Drive Business Development:
    Lead market-facing efforts to expand the firm's mining portfolio by cultivating deep client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and securing long-term, programmatic work.

  • Accelerate Portfolio Growth:
    Originate and develop complex, high-value opportunities such as multi-phase permitting programs, integrated environmental service offerings, and large-scale EPC or design-build pursuits.

  • Define a Differentiated Value Proposition:
    Champion an integrated approach to environmental, engineering, construction, closure, water, and remediation services, articulating a compelling value story that sets the organization apart.

  • Strategic Client Partnership:
    Serve as a trusted advisor to mining clients at the highest level-shaping development paths, permitting strategies, closure approaches, construction planning, risk posture, and capital decisions from the earliest stages.

  • Build National Talent Bench:
    Collaborate with internal leaders to expand and strengthen a national team of mining professionals, including succession planning, targeted recruiting, and development of emerging leaders.

  • Industry Leadership:
    Represent the organization as a recognized thought leader through participation in key mining associations, regulatory discussions, and client forums aligned with strategic growth priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geosciences, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive mining industry experience, including permitting, reclamation/restoration, mine water management, and remediation.
  • Proven success in shaping, winning, and expanding complex mining programs, supported by strong long-term client relationships.
  • Experience in mine closure, tailings management, or heap leach operations is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large, complex mining programs.
  • Established presence as an industry thought leader, with active participation in key associations and professional forums.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and motivated to build and grow a national practice.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $150,000-$300,000 annually
  • Extensive benefits package including insurance, disability coverage, paid time off, and additional resources designed to support work-life balance.
  • Employee-owners participate in both an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and a 401(k) retirement program.
