A growing, technology-driven land surveying and geospatial services firm is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to support and expand its operations across North Carolina. Headquartered in Apex, NC, the firm has built its reputation by combining traditional land surveying expertise with advanced 3D laser scanning, reality capture, GPS, and geospatial technologies to deliver highly accurate results for clients across residential, commercial, and development projects.

This role is ideal for a licensed surveyor who enjoys a mix of technical leadership, project oversight, client interaction, and mentorship. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing survey operations, maintaining quality standards, supporting business growth, and helping drive the continued expansion of a modern surveying practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, and other land surveying projects from proposal through final deliverables.
  • Review and certify survey documents, plats, and reports as the responsible Professional Land Surveyor.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality control across survey operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state regulations.
  • Utilize and support advanced technologies including GPS, LiDAR, 3D laser scanning, and reality capture workflows.
  • Interface directly with clients, contractors, developers, attorneys, and title companies to understand project requirements and deliver exceptional service.
  • Assist in developing new client relationships and expanding existing accounts throughout North Carolina.
  • Mentor and develop junior survey staff, field crews, CAD technicians, and future survey leaders.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, scope, and resource allocation.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives and help strengthen the firm's presence throughout the Triangle, Charlotte, and surrounding North Carolina markets.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide innovative geospatial solutions and deliverables.

Skills & Experience

  • Active North Carolina Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
  • Strong knowledge of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveying.
  • Experience managing surveying projects and coordinating field and office staff.
  • Proficiency with modern survey equipment, GPS technology, and survey software.
  • Exposure to laser scanning, LiDAR, reality capture, or Scan-to-BIM workflows preferred.
  • Strong understanding of survey regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and profitability.
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical staff.
