PM/Estimator
We are seeking a skilled and driven Project Manager/Estimator to oversee and estimate underground utility projects involving electrical distribution and gas infrastructure. This dual-role position is ideal for a professional with strong field experience and a deep understanding of utility construction, cost estimating, and project execution. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing projects from bid through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for underground electrical and gas utility projects
- Review project specifications, drawings, and utility standards to develop accurate scopes of work
- Manage awarded projects from pre-construction through closeout, including scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor coordination
- Track project costs, change orders, and invoicing to ensure financial performance
- Coordinate with utility clients, inspectors, and internal teams to ensure compliance and timely delivery
- Conduct site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs to assess conditions and risks
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and utility representatives
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, risks, and opportunities
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in underground utility construction, with a focus on electrical and/or gas distribution
- Proven experience in both estimating and project management roles
- Familiarity with local utility standards, permitting processes, and safety regulations
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, B2W, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience)
