A growing heavy civil contractor is seeking an Estimator and/or Preconstruction Manager to join its team in Cookeville, Tennessee. The company specializes in complex infrastructure work and is looking for someone who can contribute to the successful pursuit and planning of projects from concept through contract award. Experience in water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, utility infrastructure, or other heavy civil construction projects is highly preferred; however, candidates with strong estimating experience in related construction sectors will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for public and private construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate project budgets
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Analyze project risks, schedules, and constructability considerations
- Participate in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
- Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive leadership teams
- Build and maintain relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Support business development efforts and participate in project pursuits
- Assist in developing and improving estimating and preconstruction processes as the company continues to grow
Qualifications:
- Experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, project management, or related roles
- Ability to analyze plans, specifications, and project requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with the desire to take on increasing responsibility
- Proven ability to manage multiple pursuits and deadlines simultaneously
- Knowledge of heavy civil, infrastructure, utility, water, wastewater, or treatment plant construction is a plus
- Leadership experience or the desire to grow into a leadership role is highly valued
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive base salary ranging from $100,000 to $150,000+, depending on experience and qualifications
- Additional compensation will be considered for highly experienced candidates with demonstrated leadership capabilities
