About the Opportunity

A well-established engineering and surveying firm is seeking a Survey Lead to help oversee field operations and support a growing portfolio of projects throughout Southern Utah. This position offers the opportunity to lead survey crews, mentor junior staff, and work on a variety of boundary, topographic, construction, transportation, utility, and land development projects.

The ideal candidate is a strong field leader who enjoys solving problems, maintaining high-quality standards, and helping teams succeed in the field and office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily survey field operations
  • Supervise survey crews and ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently
  • Collect and process field data for boundary, topographic, construction staking, ALTA, and land development surveys
  • Operate and troubleshoot GPS, GNSS, robotic total stations, and survey data collection equipment
  • Review field notes, calculations, and survey deliverables for quality and accuracy
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients throughout project execution
  • Support scheduling, training, and development of survey personnel
  • Assist with project planning, resource allocation, and field logistics
  • Maintain survey equipment and ensure adherence to company safety protocols

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of land surveying experience
  • Previous experience leading survey crews or managing field operations
  • Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, and construction surveying principles
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, and modern survey technology
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • LSIT certification or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
  • Experience supporting transportation, municipal, utility, or land development projects
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Trimble Business Center, or similar software
  • Construction staking and machine control experience
  • Experience mentoring junior survey personnel
