About the Opportunity
A well-established, employee-focused engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join its Cincinnati-area team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow surveying operations while supporting a diverse portfolio of transportation, municipal, commercial, infrastructure, and land development projects throughout the region.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical surveying expertise, leadership capabilities, and a desire to mentor survey staff while serving as a key resource for project teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, route, and construction surveys.
- Review and certify survey documents, plats, easement exhibits, legal descriptions, and mapping deliverables.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to field crews, technicians, and survey staff.
- Coordinate survey activities with engineering, transportation, and land development teams.
- Ensure survey projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable standards.
- Maintain quality control procedures and uphold professional surveying standards.
- Support business development efforts through client interaction, proposal preparation, and relationship management.
- Assist with project planning, staffing, scheduling, and workload forecasting.
- Mentor and develop junior survey personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Ohio or ability to obtain reciprocity.
- Bachelor's degree or Associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive land surveying experience.
- Strong understanding of Ohio survey regulations and standards.
- Experience with boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, and legal descriptions.
- Proficiency with survey software such as Carlson, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing multiple survey crews and projects simultaneously.
- Background supporting transportation, public infrastructure, and municipal projects.
- Existing relationships within the Cincinnati and Southwest Ohio market.
- Experience with UAS/drone surveying, LiDAR, or GIS technologies.
