Project Engineer - Land Development

About the Opportunity

A growing multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Land Development team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take the next step in their career while working on a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, mixed-use, industrial, and institutional development projects. The successful candidate will gain exposure to all phases of project delivery, from initial planning and entitlement through permitting and construction.

Position Overview

The Project Engineer will support the design, permitting, and delivery of land development projects while working closely with project managers and senior engineering staff.

Typical project involvement may include:

  • Commercial developments
  • Industrial and logistics facilities
  • Residential developments
  • Mixed-use projects
  • Institutional facilities
  • Site infrastructure improvements

This position provides opportunities to develop both technical engineering expertise and project management skills.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design

  • Prepare engineering plans and technical design documents for permitting and construction.
  • Support site layout, grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater management design.
  • Develop engineering calculations, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with permitting and regulatory approval submissions.
  • Coordinate project deliverables with internal and external project teams.

Project Delivery

  • Support projects from concept through construction.
  • Coordinate project schedules, tasks, and technical deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings and client interactions.
  • Assist with construction administration and field observation activities.
  • Review project requirements and applicable regulations.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and consultants.
  • Support multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and technical decision-making throughout project delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and mentorship opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of civil engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting land development or site civil projects.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience with commercial, residential, or mixed-use developments.
  • Familiarity with permitting and entitlement processes.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams.

Technical Skills

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable civil design software.
  • Site design and grading.
  • Stormwater management and drainage design.
  • Utility infrastructure design.
  • Technical report preparation and engineering calculations.
