Make an Impact on Flood Resiliency and Stormwater Infrastructure

A respected engineering consulting firm is looking for a Project Engineer with a strong background in water resources, stormwater management, and flood mitigation. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex hydraulic challenges, working with advanced modeling tools, and helping public agencies improve critical infrastructure.

You'll play a key role in projects involving watershed analysis, flood protection systems, stormwater infrastructure, drainage planning, and climate resilience initiatives across California.

What You'll Be Doing

As a member of a growing water resources team, you'll contribute to both technical execution and project delivery on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models for watershed, flood control, drainage, and stormwater systems.
  • Build, calibrate, and maintain engineering models using rainfall, flow monitoring, and field-collected data.
  • Evaluate flood risks, drainage deficiencies, and system performance.
  • Support development of infrastructure improvement strategies and capital improvement recommendations.
  • Create and manage GIS mapping products and geospatial datasets.
  • Contribute to drainage master plans, floodplain studies, resilience initiatives, and long-range planning efforts.
  • Assist with design and evaluation of pump stations, channels, culverts, detention facilities, and stormwater conveyance systems.
  • Prepare engineering reports, technical memorandums, presentations, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in field investigations and coordinate with public agencies, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Support preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction-phase deliverables.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in water resources, drainage, stormwater, or flood control engineering.
  • Experience using hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software for system evaluation and flood analysis.
  • Strong understanding of floodplain management, watershed modeling, stormwater infrastructure, and drainage planning.
  • Experience working with GIS platforms and spatial data analysis.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Preferred Experience

  • Advanced 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling.
  • Floodplain studies and regulatory coordination.
  • Drainage master planning and infrastructure assessments.
  • Pump station analysis and stormwater system improvements.
  • Climate adaptation, resilience planning, and sea-level rise studies.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting project leadership efforts.
