Project Manager - Multifamily Construction - Chicago
A leading General Contractor in the Chicago market is seeking a Project Manager II with strong experience delivering large-scale multifamily construction projects. This individual will oversee project execution from preconstruction through closeout while ensuring safety, quality, budget, schedule, and subcontractor performance meet organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day project operations from planning through turnover.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, cost controls, and forecasting.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
- Lead Owner, Architect, and Engineer communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with contract documents and company standards.
- Drive project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
- Monitor field progress and support field leadership to maintain safety and quality.
- Conduct regular project reporting and stakeholder updates.
Experience Needed
- Demonstrated experience managing ground‑up multifamily projects $30M+ in valuation.
- Background with podium construction, mid‑rise, or high‑density residential preferred.
- Experience overseeing multiple phases including sitework, structural systems, MEP coordination, and finishes.
- Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractor performance, and owner expectations.
- Strong communication and leadership skills supporting both office and field teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
- 5-10 years of progressive project management experience with a General Contractor.
- Proficiency with project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost control, and scheduling.
- Ability to resolve conflicts, lead meetings, and drive projects to successful completion.
