Position Title: Project Engineer - Customer-Facing

Location: Roanoke, VA (Onsite)

Role Summary

This position serves as the primary liaison between the company and its customers for complex, engineered-to-order power equipment projects. This is a highly technical, customer-centric position focused on managing the full lifecycle of custom equipment-from design release through production, delivery, and field installation.

The role is based onsite in Roanoke, VA, and involves close coordination with internal teams including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and field service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers post-order, ensuring transparent communication and successful project outcomes.
  • Interpret customer specifications and collaborate with internal teams to translate them into actionable engineering and manufacturing plans.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Lead regular customer meetings to provide updates on project status, milestones, and potential issues.
  • Oversee contract compliance, change management, and technical clarifications in partnership with commercial and legal teams.
  • Coordinate logistics for site readiness, shipping, and installation in collaboration with field service teams.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in project execution and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering or project management within engineered-to-order manufacturing, power systems, or industrial equipment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex, customer-facing technical projects.
  • Experience with high-voltage equipment such as transformers, switchgear, or substations is preferred.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Roanoke, VA (relocation support available).
  • Ability to travel occasionally (10-15%)
