Project Manager Water/Wastewater
he Water/Wastewater Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects safely, on time, and within budget. This role manages all aspects of project lifecycle-from preconstruction through closeout-while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and field teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Oversee installation of water mains, sewer lines, lift stations, force mains, manholes, and related infrastructure.
Financial Management
- Monitor project costs, forecast revenue, and manage change orders.
- Conduct monthly WIP reviews and ensure accurate billing and cash flow.
- Maintain profitability and margin targets.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, NPDES, SWPPP).
- Implement QA/QC processes for pressure testing, disinfection, CCTV inspections, and material verification.
- Maintain accurate documentation for permits, submittals, and inspections.
Safety Leadership
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA trenching/excavation standards.
- Conduct regular site audits and toolbox talks.
- Promote a zero-incident culture.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as primary point of contact for owners, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Provide timely updates on progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Resolve conflicts and maintain strong client satisfaction.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor project engineers, foremen, and field crews.
- Coordinate with superintendents to ensure schedule and quality compliance.
- Support workforce development and training initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- 5-8+ years of experience managing water/wastewater construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of underground utilities, trenchless methods, and civil construction practices.
- Proficiency in project management software (HCSS HeavyJob, Procore, MS Project).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel to job sites.
Preferred
- BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with municipal/DOT projects and alternative delivery methods (Design-Build, CMAR).
- Certifications: PMP, OSHA 30, or trenchless technology credentials.
