Role Overview
A construction organization specializing in technically complex infrastructure work is seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of environmental and water-related construction projects. This role is responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, with full accountability for schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client relationships.
The Project Manager works closely with Superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and owners to ensure successful execution of complex construction scopes involving process equipment, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects from notice to proceed through commissioning and closeout
- Plan, coordinate, and control project scope, budget, schedule, and resources
- Develop and maintain project schedules, procurement plans, and subcontractor buyout strategies
- Manage all project financials including budgeting, forecasting, requisitions, cost controls, and change management
- Administer contracts, subcontract agreements, and vendor scopes in accordance with contract documents
- Interpret and enforce drawings, specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee submittals, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, and full project documentation
- Coordinate closely with the Superintendent to manage field operations, productivity, quality, safety, and sequencing
- Lead communication with owners, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory stakeholders
- Support equipment installation, start-up, system integration, commissioning, punch list, and turnover
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of construction project management experience, preferably in water, wastewater, environmental, or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience managing technically complex construction scopes
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects or large, high-value projects concurrently
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
Technical Skills & Experience
- Solid understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes including primary, secondary, and disinfection systems
- Experience with process equipment such as pumps, clarifiers, screens, chemical systems, instrumentation, and controls
- Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams and coordinate across mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil disciplines
- Knowledge of facility start-up, system testing, and commissioning activities
- Strong command of construction contracts, commercial terms, insurance requirements, and compliance obligations
- Experience with project scheduling using Microsoft Project or Primavera
- Proficiency with project management platforms and Microsoft Office tools
Project Controls & Administration
- Ability to develop detailed subcontractor and vendor scope packages
- Strong grasp of estimating, budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting
- Experience managing billing, pay applications, draws, and closeout documentation
- Understanding of safety requirements, building codes, inspections, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to analyze project risks, delays, and recovery strategies
