Project Manager/Client Lead - Water Infrastructure

This role supports the delivery and growth of water-related infrastructure work across the western U.S. You'll guide project teams through planning and design (and, in some cases, program delivery), while also serving as a trusted partner to clients and mentoring developing staff.


Core Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery: Direct multi-discipline teams delivering medium- to large-scale water, wastewater, and/or reclaimed water system work from early planning through design and delivery support.
  • Own client partnership: Serve as a primary point of contact for client coordination; strengthen existing relationships through reliable execution and identify follow-on opportunities.
  • Support growth and pursuits: Shape pursuit strategy and contribute to capture activities, including proposal coordination, content development, and interview coaching.
  • Facilitate decision-making: Plan and run client/stakeholder workshops, guiding alternatives evaluation, tradeoff discussions, and documentation of decisions.
  • Manage project controls: Develop and manage scope, schedule, budget, and delivery plans; monitor progress and implement adjustments to maintain performance.
  • Produce and review deliverables: Prepare and quality-check technical materials such as planning documents, technical memos/reports, design packages, specifications, and contract-related documentation.
  • Develop junior staff: Coach early-career professionals through day-to-day guidance, feedback, and opportunities for meaningful responsibility.
  • Travel: Periodic travel across parts of the West Coast (e.g., California and neighboring states) is anticipated.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field (graduate degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to secure California licensure via comity/reciprocity within a defined onboarding timeframe (e.g., ~6 months).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience supporting planning, design, and/or construction of water, wastewater, and/or recycled water facilities and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate client needs into clear project objectives, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented approach- comfortable learning from others and sharing knowledge to strengthen group performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including experience with proposals, presentations, technical documentation, and project deliverables.
  • Experience leading or supporting structured workshops and stakeholder discussions related to alternatives development and selection.
