A respected and long-established Louisiana engineering consultancy is seeking a Project Manager or Group Lead to support the continued growth of its Public Works practice. With a strong backlog of municipal infrastructure projects and long-standing client relationships throughout the state, this is an opportunity to join a firm that is deeply embedded in the Louisiana market while offering genuine flexibility and career advancement.

This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer who has experience delivering water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects for municipal and public-sector clients and is looking to take on greater leadership responsibility.

The Opportunity

You'll lead a variety of public infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction while managing client relationships, project teams, budgets, and schedules.

Projects may include:

  • Water distribution system design
  • Wastewater collection systems
  • Sewer pump stations
  • Water wells and potable water systems
  • Wastewater treatment facilities
  • Utility infrastructure improvements
  • Drainage and stormwater projects
  • Natural gas and municipal utility projects
  • Public works and community infrastructure programs

The team is open to candidates ranging from experienced Project Managers through to established Group Leaders, depending on experience and leadership capability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage municipal water, wastewater, utility, and public works projects.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and scopes.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal and public-sector clients.
  • Review and oversee engineering designs, technical reports, and construction documents.
  • Support project pursuits, proposals, and business development efforts.
  • Coordinate with parishes, municipalities, utility districts, and other public agencies.
  • Provide technical leadership while remaining involved in project delivery and design.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience managing engineering projects for municipal or public-sector clients.
  • Strong background in water, wastewater, utilities, and public infrastructure.
  • Experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and team leadership.
  • Ability to manage projects independently while guiding junior engineers.

Preferred

  • Experience with treatment facilities, pump stations, and utility systems.
  • Previous supervision or leadership experience.
  • Strong technical design background alongside project management skills.
  • Experience working directly with municipalities, counties, parishes, or public agencies.
