Regional Operations Manager

Reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the regional office's day-to-day operating activities including coordination of staffing resources and needs, utilization, production of design product(s), managing cost/profit goals, personnel management, consistency of operating procedures, client satisfaction and oversees all disciplines/practices offered through his/her regional office. Additionally, the Regional Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring proper development of prospective and regional client relationships, proposals and working with marketing and business development staff and initiatives to ensure a strong future pipeline. Fostering an environment of collaboration throughout the operations team - both within his/her region and company-wide is required. The Regional Operations Manager will work closely and in alignment with the CEO, other Regional Managers, Practice Builders, and the corporate staff team to facilitate our guiding principles, annual goals, and objectives to create company growth through his/her regional oversight.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Manage regional operations to meet profit goals as developed with the corporate team.
  • Provide regular work production, future project projection and staff utilization reports to the CEO. Provide other reporting tools to the corporate staff team as needed.
  • Ensure timely reporting and administrative tasks of regional operations team to include time sheets, proper billing standards, quarterly projections, weekly resource planning, etc.
  • Provide oversight of each discipline/practice offered within his/her region. Collaborate closely with Practice Builders of each discipline to ensure annual revenue/profit targets are achieved.
  • Ensure quality standards and annual objectives are met for each discipline operating within his/her region.
  • Facilitate staff communication & coordinate regional operations activities as required to meet the company's vision, goals and objectives.
  • Ensure proper hiring and training practices are in place to create a strong regional team. Work closely with Practice Builders in selection of key staff for all disciplines present in the region which may include Engineering, Survey, LA/Planning, ADA, Technology, and others as introduced.
  • Manage team through proper coaching to ensure high staff productivity, quality work production and high employee satisfaction.
  • Develop staff in experience and expertise and help prepare staff for increased responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Ensure annual objectives and performance targets are in place for every employee, coaching is conducted as necessary throughout the year regarding results and areas of opportunity, and effective annual performance reviews are conducted to meet with company vision of creating a quality work environment and high performing team.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Revenue & Marketing to ensure profitable business development plans are in place for your regional targets.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Revenue & Marketing to foster a culture of relationship development throughout the regional operations team.
  • Resolve with subordinates inter-group issues and resolve with peers' inter-regional issues on all operations issues to include, but not limited to, staffing, project deliverables, financial performance, client relations and work quality.
  • Participate in the decision-making process by evaluating and communicating the impact of operational decisions and business opportunities.
  • Develop short- and long-term goals and strategies for growth of the office in collaboration with the corporate staff team.
  • Special Projects or assignments from the CEO or corporate staff team.
  • All regional managers will have oversight of at least one company-wide initiative or cohorts group. If designated as a Practice Builder, see responsibilities below.
