About the Opportunity
A global provider of industrial water treatment and specialty chemical solutions is seeking a Sales Rep to drive profitable growth, strengthen customer relationships, and expand business within an established territory.
This role combines new business development, account management, technical sales, and customer support responsibilities. The successful candidate will focus on growing existing accounts, identifying new opportunities, and delivering value-driven solutions that improve customer performance and operational efficiency.
The position serves as the primary commercial contact for assigned accounts and plays a critical role in supporting long-term customer success and business growth.
Position Summary
The Sales Executive is responsible for driving territory growth through a combination of prospecting, customer retention, account expansion, and technical consultation. This role manages relationships across a portfolio of industrial customers while identifying opportunities to introduce new applications, improve customer performance, and expand service offerings.
Success requires strong relationship-building skills, commercial acumen, and technical knowledge of industrial water treatment applications.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Account Expansion
- Drive year-over-year revenue growth through new customer acquisition and expansion of existing accounts.
- Identify and develop opportunities for new water treatment applications and solutions.
- Expand business within existing customer facilities through strategic account development.
- Maintain strong customer relationships to support long-term retention.
- Manage sales opportunities, forecasts, and pipeline activity using CRM and business planning tools.
- Develop territory plans to achieve growth objectives and commercial targets.
Profitability Optimization
- Optimize product and service mix to support both customer performance and profitability goals.
- Implement strategic pricing initiatives and annual pricing reviews.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins through product optimization and operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate with technical teams to recommend appropriate treatment solutions.
Account Retention & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers across customer organizations.
- Conduct regular business reviews and strategic account planning sessions.
- Proactively address customer concerns and retention risks.
- Demonstrate value delivered and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Strategic Account Ownership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts.
- Develop relationships across operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement, and leadership teams.
- Coordinate resources to ensure customer success and satisfaction.
- Resolve account issues in a timely and professional manner.
Financial & Operational Accountability
- Achieve territory sales, margin, and profitability objectives.
- Support receivables management and customer credit processes.
- Monitor account profitability and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with commercial agreements and contractual commitments.
Internal Collaboration
- Partner with customer service, technical support, laboratory, research and development, planning, and supply chain teams.
- Collaborate with field service personnel to maintain high service standards.
- Coordinate internal resources to support customer growth initiatives and operational needs.
- Communicate market intelligence and customer feedback across the organization.
Application Reliability & Technical Support
- Monitor application performance and treatment program effectiveness.
- Conduct testing and evaluations to optimize customer results.
- Troubleshoot operational and process challenges.
- Prepare service reports and maintain customer documentation.
- Support and oversee customer treatment equipment to ensure reliability and uptime.
Required Qualifications
- 7-9 years of experience in industrial water treatment, specialty chemicals, or related technical sales environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Cooling water treatment programs
- Boiler water treatment programs
- Industrial water chemistry
- Basic coagulation and flocculation processes
- Industrial wastewater treatment fundamentals
- Experience selling chemical treatment programs, technical services, or related solutions.
- Proven success in prospecting, developing new business, and growing customer accounts.
- Strong customer relationship management and account development skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.
