Roadway Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer to join our dynamic transportation team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in roadway design and project delivery who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will lead and support complex roadway projects from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
- Design Leadership:
- Develop and oversee roadway design plans, including alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and grading.
- Ensure designs meet AASHTO, MUTCD, and state DOT standards.
- Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with internal teams (traffic, drainage, utilities) and external stakeholders.
- Technical Expertise:
- Perform advanced geometric design and pavement analysis.
- Review and integrate survey data, GIS information, and environmental constraints into design.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.
- Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Client Interaction:
- Serve as a technical point of contact for clients and agencies.
- Participate in public meetings and presentations as needed.
- Construction Support:
- Provide technical guidance during construction, including responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 5-6 years of progressive roadway design experience, preferably with DOT or municipal projects.
- Licensure:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Ability to obtain additional state licensure as needed.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MicroStation, Civil 3D, and roadway modeling tools (OpenRoads Designer preferred).
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, and state-specific design manuals.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively in a hybrid environment.
