Summary

Our client, a leading independent energy consultancy, is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Energy Efficiency Sales Consultant to drive growth across their energy efficiency and decarbonization practice. The firm supports commercial, industrial, and institutional clients in identifying, designing, and implementing cost‑effective efficiency initiatives that reduce energy spend, improve asset performance, and advance sustainability goals.

This role is ideal for a hybrid technical-sales professional-someone who understands energy efficiency solutions at a practical level and can confidently engage clients, uncover opportunities, and guide projects from concept through contract. The successful candidate brings a hunter mindset, strong consultative selling skills, and hands‑on experience with energy efficiency projects, audits, or performance‑based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

The Energy Efficiency Sales Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and developing new energy efficiency opportunities within commercial and industrial accounts
  • Engaging prospects through a consultative sales approach, translating technical efficiency concepts into clear financial and operational value
  • Leveraging technical knowledge to scope opportunities such as lighting upgrades, HVAC optimization, building controls, retro‑commissioning, and other efficiency measures
  • Collaborating with engineering and delivery teams to develop savings analyses, proposals, and implementation strategies
  • Driving deals from lead generation through close, with accountability for revenue and performance targets
  • Building long‑term client relationships and positioning the firm as a trusted advisor for ongoing efficiency and sustainability initiatives

Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3-10 years of experience in energy efficiency, energy services, or related roles with a strong sales or client‑facing component
  • A demonstrated ability to develop and close business for technical solutions (e.g., energy efficiency projects, audits, ESCO offerings, or performance‑based contracts)
  • Solid understanding of energy efficiency technologies, project economics, and savings validation concepts
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical solutions in a compelling, client‑friendly manner
  • An entrepreneurial, self‑starter mindset with the drive to succeed in a target‑driven environment
