A rapidly growing Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a multi‑gigawatt portfolio of utility‑scale solar and battery storage projects is seeking a Director of Asset Management. The company focuses on delivering high‑performance clean energy assets through rigorous analytics, operational excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Role Overview
The Director of Asset Management will lead the financial, technical, and operational performance of a diverse portfolio of utility‑scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) assets. This role carries full P&L ownership and responsibility for building, developing, and scaling the asset management function, including systems, processes, teams, and vendor networks.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in renewable energy asset management, strong commercial acumen, and a data‑driven approach to optimizing asset value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end asset management for a portfolio of utility‑scale solar and BESS projects
- Own full P&L performance, including budgeting, cost control, and NOI optimization
- Oversee technical and operational functions including monitoring, O&M, warranties, insurance, EPC workmanship, and field service execution
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, contractual, and tax requirements-including long‑term tax credit obligations
- Build and scale the asset management team; manage internal hires and third‑party service providers
- Collaborate with executive leadership and finance teams on reporting, dashboards, and performance analytics
- Implement asset optimization strategies using data analytics, predictive maintenance, and performance monitoring tools
- Manage vendor and off‑taker contracts to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
- Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, and investment evaluations across the asset portfolio
- Present performance updates and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
- Provide commercial and technical input on development‑stage contracts (PPAs, EPC agreements, LTSAs, warranties, etc.)
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio reporting
- Oversee the full asset lifecycle from development through decommissioning
Skills & Experience Required
- 8+ years of experience in the energy industry, ideally in project development, project finance, or asset management
- Experience with renewable energy development or independent power producers (IPPs)
- Strong understanding of key commercial agreements: PPAs, interconnection agreements, settlement processes, finance agreements, and LLC operating agreements
- Experience with tax equity, tax credit transfer structures, and back‑leverage financing
- Knowledge of renewable portfolio standards (RPS), RECs, and related incentive structures (preferred)
- Strong financial, commercial, and technical skillset
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and solve complex problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication
