About the Role

Seeking a Senior Civil Engineer (PE) to support the planning, design, and execution of utility and renewable energy projects. This individual will serve as a technical lead on projects involving solar, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), transmission, substations, and other energy infrastructure. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to projects that support the evolving energy sector. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in civil engineering design, permitting, and project delivery within utility or renewable energy environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil engineering design efforts for utility and renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Develop grading, drainage, stormwater, and erosion control designs.
  • Prepare SWPPPs and support environmental and permitting requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and design reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Perform quality reviews of engineering deliverables.
  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably within utility, infrastructure, or renewable energy projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with solar, wind, battery storage, electric utility, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of site design, permitting, construction documentation, and project execution.
  • Experience with stormwater management and erosion & sediment control design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical project teams is preferred.
