Senior Commercial Engineer - Systems
A pioneering company in advanced membrane technology is seeking a Senior Commercial Engineer - Systems to lead the full lifecycle of engineered systems, from concept and design through estimating and proposal generation. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that blends technical expertise with commercial strategy, supporting innovative solutions in water and wastewater treatment.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in membrane system integration for industrial process and wastewater applications. This role involves both internal collaboration and external client engagement, requiring strong communication skills and a proactive, self-directed work style.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of technical proposals for capital equipment and engineered solutions.
- Collaborate with sales and technical teams to define customer requirements, size equipment, estimate costs, and develop proposals.
- Manage and develop standard system designs, costing tools, and proposal templates.
- Work with strategic partners on detailed engineering and fabrication estimates.
- Evaluate technical feasibility and risk for new commercial opportunities.
- Provide post-sales technical support and site visits to ensure customer success.
- Maintain CRM records and author technical documentation.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
- Occasional travel (up to 20%) for customer visits, conferences, and internal meetings.
Qualifications
- Degree in chemical, civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in industrial water/wastewater treatment system design and estimating.
- Expertise in spiral wound membrane systems (RO, UF, NF) and crossflow filtration.
- Experience with modular system design (skidded or containerized).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices.
- Product management experience is a plus.

- Remote role based in North America; proximity to a major airport preferred.
- Reports to the VP of Integrated Solutions.
- Compensation is competitive and includes potential equity.
- Travel expected to be short and infrequent (2-3 nights per trip).
