Position Overview
A nationally recognized engineering and commissioning firm is seeking a Senior Commissioning Specialist with deep expertise in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, electrical distribution, and mission-critical infrastructure. This is a remote position with extensive travel to client sites across the U.S. and abroad. The successful candidate will lead commissioning efforts, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure systems meet operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Execution & Site Leadership
- Perform inspection, testing, and validation of UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and electrical distribution equipment, other MEP electrical equipment
- Lead functional performance testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Direct contractors and vendors during commissioning activities.
- Participate in factory witness testing and startup procedures.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and issue resolution.
Project Management
- Develop commissioning plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate resources and manage project timelines.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare pre-functional checklists and test scripts.
- Review design documents and specifications for electrical systems.
- Deliver detailed commissioning reports and progress updates.
- Track project hours and maintain accurate documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of UPS systems, electrical distribution, and backup power infrastructure.
- Experience commissioning electrical systems in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, hospitals, industrial facilities).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and digital documentation tools.
- Familiarity with NFPA, IEEE, NEC, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, including client-facing interactions.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%, including international assignments.
- Must meet federal travel ID requirements (e.g., REAL ID or passport).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with commissioning software and digital tools.
- OSHA and/or NFPA70E certification.
