Our client, a regional, employee-owned engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to support transportation infrastructure projects across Michigan. The Senior Construction Inspector will be responsible for...
- Monitoring contractor operations to ensure compliance with MDOT contract terms and specifications
- Independently coordinating and directing all phases of construction inspection
- Scheduling and coordinating construction activities with contractors and agency personnel
- Reviewing contractor plans and identifying potential violations or discrepancies
- Conducting field measurements and performing material testing
- Maintaining detailed and accurate project documentation
- Assisting in the development of work orders and analysis of Notices of Intent
- Evaluating progress schedules and performing work order analysis
- Serving as Lead Inspector for a team of inspectors when needed
The ideal candidate will have...
- At least 3 years of highway, bridge, or local road construction inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of roadway, bridge, and structural construction methods and materials
- Familiarity with MDOT specifications, manuals, and inspection protocols
- MDOT certifications in concrete, asphalt, drainage, and other relevant areas
- A solid understanding of federal and state environmental, safety, and EEO regulations
- The ability to lead inspection teams, conduct meetings, and communicate effectively
- Proficiency in field management principles and technical documentation
