Senior Control Systems Engineer

What They Will Be Doing

This role serves as a senior consulting engineer leading complex water and wastewater control system design and construction projects for utility clients across the United States. The individual will act as both project manager and technical lead/engineer of record, overseeing multidisciplinary teams and delivering control system designs suitable for public bid.

They will work closely with utility operators, maintenance personnel, managers, and engineers to ensure project objectives are met and solutions align with operational needs. Responsibilities include developing key technical deliverables such as SCADA master plans, Preliminary Engineering Reports, and facilitating technical workshops.

The position also includes a strong business development component, supporting proposal development, fee estimates, and providing technical expertise during pursuits. The individual will actively identify opportunities to expand work with existing clients and help position innovative solutions that improve utility operations.

A core aspect of the role is translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. The individual will help utilities modernize their processes and technology by implementing forward‑thinking solutions that enhance efficiency, improve safety, and enable data‑driven decision‑making.

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States by examination, or the ability to obtain PE licensure within 12 months
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (minimum)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in control system design and/or system implementation, including development of specifications and drawings suitable for public bid, or SCADA system programming
  • At least 2 years of project management experience
  • At least 2 years of experience mentoring or developing junior engineers
  • Full‑time position
