Compensation: $120,000 - $200,000+ (Depending on Experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the planning, evaluation, and design of complex electrical infrastructure projects. This individual will play a key role in delivering power system solutions for industrial, utility, energy, transportation, and critical facility projects while collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for a variety of infrastructure and facility projects.
- Perform engineering studies and technical analyses involving power distribution, system protection, lighting, communications, emergency power, and other electrical systems.
- Conduct field investigations and site assessments to evaluate existing conditions and support project development.
- Adapt engineering solutions based on project requirements, operational needs, and site-specific conditions.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, engineering calculations, and construction documents.
- Support internal technical initiatives by developing engineering resources, best practices, and specialized technical content.
- Contribute to technical publications, presentations, and industry knowledge-sharing efforts.
- Provide technical expertise during proposal development and client pursuit activities.
- Work directly with clients to identify challenges and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and industry events.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers while supporting their technical development.
- Review engineering deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project objectives.
- Assist with project leadership and coordination efforts as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience.
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to travel periodically based on project demands.
Preferred Experience
- Electrical power systems within water/wastewater, industrial, utility, transportation, federal, or mission-critical facilities.
- Medium-voltage distribution systems, substations, switchgear, and backup power systems.
- Power system studies including protection coordination, arc flash, short circuit, and load flow analysis.
- Renewable energy, distributed energy resources, microgrids, and energy resiliency projects.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC, and other relevant electrical standards.
- Experience with power system software such as SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, CYME, EDSA, or similar platforms.
- Previous involvement in technical publications, research, or industry presentations.
